Sterling Silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper (or some other metal). It tends to tarnished over time, so it requires cleaning every now and than. You may use a polishing cloth or baking soda with foil:
- Put the silver jewellery on top of the foil and pour moderately hot water over it.
- Add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda to the water and swish it around to dissolve it.
- Let the silver jewellery soak for about 20 to 30 minutes.
- Rinse it well and dry it with a soft towel.
You may keep your silver jewellery in a sealed plastic bag to slow down the process of tarnishing.
